Geoffrey Lane B.Sc.(Hons), P.Geo, Chief Mineralogist

Co-owner with his wife and president of Process Mineralogical Consulting Ltd. Geoff graduated as a Minerals Engineering Technologist from Sir Sandford Fleming College – School of Natural Resources in 1987, and received a B.Sc. Second Class –Upper Division Honour’s degree in geology from Birkbeck College, University of London in 2005. He spent 19 years working at Lakefield Research, now SGS Minerals, initially as a Mineralogical Technician in 1987 and leaving as a Senior Mineralogist in 2006. His experience over that time ranged from carrying out routine laboratory test work to managing and undertaking mineralogical projects from a wide range of clients worldwide, especially focusing on process mineralogical applications for liberation. In 2006 Geoff was employed as a Senior Mineralogist, Process Mineralogy Team Leader at the Technology and Innovation (T&I) facility of Rio Tinto located in Melbourne Australia. His duties included managing the process mineralogy projects at T&I that included QemScan operations as well as optical microscopy for the Rio Tinto business units of Hamersley Iron, Energy Resources Australia (uranium), La Granja Copper project, and Northparkes Copper. Thomas Chudy Ph.D. Senior Mineralogist

Thomas’s career goals are to improve the efficiency of exploration work and resource development of a variety of mineral deposits including rare metal deposits hosted by carbonatites, pegmatites and alkaline rocks by using targeted mineralogical research. He has realized that a deeper petrological and mineralogical understanding of a deposit and its formation that goes beyond the simple determination of ‘grades’ can significantly enhance the development of a mineral resource. His approach includes the timely dissemination of relevant mineralogical information to all parties involved in the resource development including on-site geologists, metallurgists and mining engineers. He is convinced that an integrated collaboration is crucial in light of future challenges such as declining mineral resource quality and increasing environmental responsibility.
